Over 5 years ago, when I was dubbing my art studio space “the lab”, I came across a Brain Pickings article on Sister Corita Kent’s “Art Department Rules”. These set of rules inspired my art practice and art making since, and especially Rule 4: “Consider Everything An Experiment”.
Whenever I’m stuck, or trying to work through something, or initially fearful of trying something in my work, this Art Department rule is something I always come back to.
